The Bridgeland High School girls’ cross country team won the District 16-6A title on Oct. 13 at Spring Creek Park in Tomball. The Bears have won six straight district team championships and will compete at the Region II-6A Cross Country Championships on Oct. 24 at Lynn Creek Park in Grand Prairie.
Oct. 20, 2023—The Bridgeland High School girls’ and boys’ cross country teams swept the District 16-6A titles at the Cross Country Championships, held Oct. 13 at Spring Creek Park in Tomball. For the Bridgeland girls, this is their sixth consecutive team championship after winning back-to-back District 14-6A titles in 2018 and 2019, respectively, and the 16-6A crown in 2020, 2021 and 2022. For the Bridgeland boys, this is their fifth consecutive team title.
In District 17-6A, the Jersey Village High School boys and the Cy-Fair High School girls were the top-finishing teams among CFISD schools at the District 17-6A Cross Country Championships, held Oct. 12 at Nottingham Park.

The top three teams and 10 individuals in each race advance to the regional championships. The Region II-6A Cross Country Championships will be held Oct. 24 at Lynn Creek Park in Grand Prairie. The Region III-6A Cross Country Championships will be held Oct. 24 at Kate Barr Ross Memorial Park in Huntsville.
The Bridgeland girls took seven out of the top 10 spots, earning 15 points. The Bears finished in front of runner-up Cypress Woods High School (69) and third place Cypress Ranch High School (100).
The Cy-Fair High School girls’ cross country team earned 76 points and placed third overall as a team at the District 17-6A Cross Country Championships on Oct. 12 at Nottingham Park. The Bobcats qualified for the Region III-6A Cross Country Championships, set for Oct. 24 at Kate Barr Ross Memorial Park in Huntsville.

The Falcons qualified for the Region III-6A Cross Country Championships, set for Oct. 24 at Kate Barr Ross Memorial Park in Huntsville.
In District 17-6A, the Cy-Fair girls earned 76 points to finish third behind Stratford and Memorial high schools. The Bobcats’ score featured freshman Caroline Mistric (3rd, 19:17.30), senior Rachel Warnock (11th, 20:59.80), freshman Larkin Egbert (17th, 21:41.90), junior Riya Patel (19th, 21:52.40), freshman Maeve Gotto (21st, 22:12.10), senior Penelope Albrecht (23rd, 22:43.30) and sophomore Adela Cantu (28th, 23:09.60).
In addition to the Cy-Fair girls’ team, Cypress Ridge High School senior Emily Shook (5th, 19:58.20), Cypress Creek High School sophomore Xiomara Sanchez (6th, 20:23.80) and Jersey Village sophomore Mia Pena (8th, 20:41.20) qualified for the Region III-6A meet.

The Falcons’ score was led by senior Marco Requejo (3rd, 15:52.80), senior Jacob Lucia (8th, 16:16.80), freshman Michael Guerrero (14th, 16:53.80), senior Gerson Gonzales (21st, 17:27.30), junior Landen Delaney (25th, 17:31.80), senior Alan Villatoro (29th, 17:49.70) and senior Ethan Luna (32nd, 18:03.70).
In addition, Cypress Creek teammates junior Jayden De La Santos (5th, 16:00.50) and sophomore Joaquin Miranda (9th, 16:24.30) qualified for the Region III-6A meet.
