Oct. 9, 2023—The Cypress Ranch High School tennis team completed a perfect 7-0 run through its District 16-6A season, clinching a league championship and advancing to the postseason as the district’s top seed.

The district title is the program’s first since 2018 and sixth in 10 years. The Mustangs claimed a shared title in 2014 followed by four outright district championships. Bridgeland High School won four consecutive team titles from 2019-2022.

Cypress Woods High School will advance to the postseason as the No. 2 seed in District 16-6A followed by No. 3 seed Bridgeland. After making its first-ever playoff berth last year, No. 4 seed Cypress Lakes High School will make a second consecutive postseason appearance.

Cypress Ranch and Cypress Woods will play their bi-district playoff on Monday, Oct. 9. Bridgeland and Cypress Falls will play Tuesday, Oct. 10.

Cypress Ranch will face Klein at 3 p.m. at Tomball High School (30330 Quinn Road). Cypress Woods will meet Klein Oak at 2:30 p.m. at Klein Cain High School (10201 Spring Cypress Road).

Bridgeland will face Tomball at 2:30 p.m. at Tomball Memorial High School (19100 Northpointe Ridge Lane). Cypress Falls will meet Klein Cain at 2 p.m. at Klein Cain High School.

In District 17-6A, Cy-Fair High School finished as the No. 3 seed and will be joined by No. 4 seed Cypress Creek High School in facing their respective 18-6A opponents in the postseason at the Lee LeClear Tennis Center (9506 S. Guessner Road).

Cypress Creek will play Houston Lamar at 2 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 9. Cy-Fair will face Houston Bellaire at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 10.
