Science Olympiad teams succeed at state competition
The Bridgeland High School Science Olympiad team placed eighth in the state at the Texas Science Olympiad competition on April 20—the highest-ranking CFISD team in Division C.

May 2, 2024—CFISD Science Olympiad teams performed well at the Texas Science Olympiad, held April 19-20 in College Station.

Goodson Middle School was CFISD’s top team in Division B (middle school), placing sixth overall with 185 points. The following Goodson students placed among the top three in their respective events:

  • Akash Selvakumar and Levi Best – first place, Rotor Egg Drop;
  • Alexandra Tseng and Chesney Tran Nguyen – second place, Fossils; and
  • Alexandra Tseng and Lily Calarco – third place, Roller Coaster.

Anthony Middle School placed ninth in Division B with 211 points and earned the Spirit Award. The following Anthony students placed among the top three in their respective events:

  • Nathan Krakora & Annabella Kelly – first place, Tower;
  • Karina Vora and Ashley Chokbengboun – second place, WIDI; and
  • Kaylee Tzoc and Disha Somasetty – third place, WGYN.

Sprague Middle School placed 10th in Division B with 226 points. The following Sprague students placed among the top three in their respective events:

  • Srikar Karri, Pranav Sai Reddi and Medha Smera Iyer – first place, Experimental Design;
  • Srikar Karri and Joshua Zheng – second place, Optics;
  • Srikar Karri and Sohan Kamsala – second place, Rotor Egg Drop; and
  • Srikar Karri and Pranav Sai Reddi – second place, Solar Power.

Aragon Middle School placed 24th in Division B with 415 points. The following Aragon students placed among the top three in their respective events:

  • Katherine Teoh & Bao Nguyen – third place, Crime Busters; and
  • Noah Crouch and Daniel Crosby – third place, Rotor Egg Drop.

In Division C (high school), Bridgeland High School placed eighth with 235 points. The following Bridgeland students placed among the top three in their respective events:

  • Giriish Purushothaman and Krishhiv  Ray – first place, Flight; and
  • Nia Mire and Jayden Lin – second place, Anatomy and Physiology.

Cypress Falls High School placed 10th in Division C with 279 points. The following Cypress Falls students placed among the top three in their respective events:

  • Khan Vo and Ava Lam – second place, Robot Tour; and
  • Ava Lam and Lynda Tran – third place, Science Word.

Cypress Ranch High School placed 13th in Division C with 317 points. The following Cypress Ranch students placed among the top three in their respective events:

  • Lakshya Agarwal and Sanmay (Sam) Sarada – second place, Air Trajectory.

The Langham Creek, Cypress Woods, Cypress Creek and Cypress Springs high school Science Olympiad teams also represented CFISD at the state competition.
